AMC Announces ‘Interview With The Vampire’ Season 2 At Summit

Following

AMC Networks AMCX held their first in-person summit since the beginning of the pandemic. At the event, they released the news that they were renewing Anne Rice’s Interview with the Vampire for a second season before its debut on October 2.

The event featured a keynote address with the President of Entertainment and AMC Studios, AMC Networks, Dan McDermott. The event also featured four panels on world-building, Love and Connection in the Black Community, inclusivity in horror from Shutter and an actors panel on characters from the next generation of AMC legacy shows.

Speakers at the event included Jacob Anderson and Sam Reid from the upcoming Interview with the Vampire, Okieriete Onaodowan, Zahn McClarnon, Emma McDonald, Chloe Okuno, Kimberly Peirce, Hannah Barlow, Tananarive Due, MC Lyte, Da Brat, Okieriete Onadowan, Colman Domingo, Diallo Riddle, The Walking Dead’s Scott Gimple, Mark Johnson, Esta Spalding, Nikki Love -SVP, Development & Production ALLBLK, Shutter’s VP of Programming- Sam Zimmerman, Harry Hamlin and more.

While several projects were brought to the forefront of the summit, the news about Interview with the Vampire was among the most exciting. AMCN has been working on building what they are calling the Anne Rice Universe. Shows in the universe, based on the book series by Anne Rice, include the upcoming Interview with the Vampire and Anne Rice’s Mayfair Witches. AMC also released first-look photos for Mayfair Witches. The Anne Rice Universe may be set up to be the next multi-show AMC project, much like their smash hit, The Walking Dead and its spin-off media. Much like the popular Talking Dead, Interview with the Vampire is getting its own recap podcast from comedian Naomi Ekperigin.

“The scope and breadth of this show, and what Mark and Rolin have delivered, is just stupendous. They have rendered the rich and vibrant world of Anne Rice’s Interview in a wonderful way, and we’re incredibly proud. From the set build, to production design, costumes and more — no detail was overlooked. This stellar cast delivers powerful performances that emotionally connect us to these characters and their humanity,” said McDermott. “We look forward to sharing the final product of this extraordinary effort with audiences in just a few short days and are thrilled that this story will continue. This is only the beginning of an entire Universe featuring enthralling stories and characters that capture the spirit of Anne Rice’s amazing work.”

AMC also teased other upcoming shows, including Demascus starring Onadowan, Straight Man starring AMC favorite Bob Odenkirk and Orphan Black: Echoes starring Krysten Ritter.

McDermott said at the event that AMCN was in a “creative renaissance and resurgence.” The company also stated that this was the biggest year of original programming in the company’s history.
