ISSUES

  • Our community needs a commissioner with strong conservative and moral values to serve as a role model for our community.

Over the past few years residents have witnessed our commissioner:

    • Steal tax dollars for campaign purposes

    • Break the law

    • Conduct county business on personal devices, and

    • Foster a culture of corruption within our county government.

    As commissioner I will:

    • Rebuild trust by keeping residents informed and maintaining transparency

    • Conduct county business only on county devices

    • Implement new ethics policies for county employees and,

    • Restore fair treatment for all doing business before the county.

  • As our community has grown we have failed to plan for a future that addresses growth while protecting the values and feel that made our home great in the first place.

As commissioner I want to accomplish the following:

    • Reduce the congestion by funding multi-use trails, improving the quality of public transportation, and stopping wasteful projncts like the parking garage on Anna Maria Island. With wider bridges coming to the island and more visitors than ever before now is the time to plan ahead.

    • Invest in improvements to sidewalks and pedestrian safety. FDOT says Cortez has 3 of the top ten most dangerous intersections from Tampa to Naples. Trhere are significant portions of our communities where safe safe pathways do not exist but should.

    • Address homelessness on our streets by coordinating with non-profits to address the needs of the homeless and clean up our streets. No more tent cities in our communities.

    • Target investments in roads, bridges, water lines, and more whiie protecting private property rights for residents. Let’s save 59th Street West and find a better solution for traffic.

    • Add traffic lights and signs, better road striping, and smarter solutions for reducing speed on our roadways.

  • Forget the swamp in Washington, we have one in our backyard.

Over the past 4 years our commission has:

    • Taken away our 1st Amendment Freedom of Speech in public meetings by eliminating call-ins to meetings and public comment on social media.

    • Sold access to wetlands for private development

    • De-funded the Sheriff’s new substation for a donor’s development.

    • Approved donor’s projects without consideration for the community, proper planning, and infrastructure.

The solutions are simple. I will not accept special interest money. will fully fund our sheriff’s substation, raise impact fees for developers, protect wetlands, and restore call-ins to public meetings.

  • Our economy depends on clean blue waters and green spaces to fuel tourism, fishing, and our hospitality industries. This is what defines Manatee County.

Over the past four years a failure to address disasters like Piney Point, an oil spill at SeaPort Manatee, over development, and dwindling protections for wetlands threatens to destroy a key pillar of our economy and way of life.

As commissioner I will fight to:

    • Restore wetland buffers.

    • Protect agriculture lands for food security.

    • Direct funds to maintain the stormwater management solutions that are failing today.

    • Incentivize redevelopment of existing properties with better stormwater runoff and pollution management in mind.

    • Preserve natural lands to keep Manatee County beautiful for generations to come.

  • Home to the cities of Bradenton Beach, Holmes Beach, and Anna Maria. Anna Maria Island (AMI) is the last place in the region where we have retained the “Old Florida” beach town feel. AMI has a rich history dating back to the early 1900s when business owners and pioneers settled and developed the island.

  • Home to many great parks, the Bradenton Marauders, Village of the Arts, a vibrant downtown, and more - a great place to “live, work, and play.” The City of Bradenton serves as the county seat (our “headquarters”) and largest city in our county.

  • Home to a nationally recognized active fishing village and the Florida Maritime Museum. The Cortez Fishing Village is the only place in the region where the fish and crab caught on the docks can be served in the restaurants on shore.

  • Home to wonderful neighborhoods, resorts, and amazing parks and beaches. The north end of Longboat Key is within Manatee County.

  • Home of the Mardi Gras! Rubonia is a historic community going back to the late 1800s. Fun fact - Rubonia is a sister community of Terra Ceia!.

  • Home to Emerson Point Preserve and wonderful bay side neighborhoods.

  • Terra Ceia’s roots go back to the mid 1800s and is home to the Mullet Smoke-off and the historic Terra Ceia Village Improvement Association (VIA). Fun fact - Terra Ceia is a sister community of Rubonia.
