LEGO Library Spruce-Up with RI Lego Artist Andy Grover

LEGO Library Spruce-Up with RI Lego Artist Andy Grover In-Person

Calling all library lovers and LEGO enthusiasts!  It's been almost four years since PPL unveiled its LEGO model, located in the 3rd floor lobby outside our Auditorium. Just in time to celebrate 2024 International LEGO Day (January 28), we invite you to join us for a fun meet-up with Rhode Island LEGO artist Andy Grover as he visits PPL to spruce up the intricate LEGO rendering he created of PPL in celebration of the Library's 2020 transformative building renovation. Come watch while he does some "maintenance" and have a chance to talk LEGOs with the artist/expert!

Andrew Grover depicts Rhode Island buildings in LEGO. Some of his creations include the Providence Public Library, Union Station, Slater Mill, the Ann & Hope Mill, and Mount Pleasant High School. He likes to focus on public buildings such as schools and libraries and other buildings like Providence-style 'multi-families.'  In his work, he tries to point out that some of these 'humbler' structures are just as important a part of Rhode Island culture and history as buildings more conventionally thought of as landmarks.

Grover was commissioned by PPL to model its historic structure as part of the celebration of its landmark 2020 renovation. The model contains nearly 10,000 bricks and took six months to construct!
