Columbia suspends 3 frats with members tied to drug ring bust

The Columbia fraternities whose dopey members were busted Tuesday for peddling weed, cocaine and other drugs have been ordered to “cease all activities” — including recruitment, initiation and any upcoming parties.

The hammer came down last night from Dean of Student Affairs Kevin Shollenberger — affecting activities at Alpha Epsilon Pi, Pi Kappa Alpha and Psi Upsilon frats.

The suspension was ordered “pending further review,” university officials said.

“According to Columbia’s Fraternity and Sorority Life Community Standards and Greek Judicial Board Handbook, a fraternity or sorority can be suspended if determined ‘necessary to promote the best interest’ of the chapter and the University,” Shollenberger said.

“Given the severity of the alleged behavior, we believe these interim suspensions are in the best interest of our community at this time.”

Five students were nabbed in an on-campus cop raid at the frats’ 114th Street brownstones on Tuesday morning.

Harrison David, Chris Coles, Adam Klein, Jose Stephan Perez and Michael Wymbs all were charged with peddling cocaine, marijuana, MDMA, Adderall, and LSD, officials in the Special Narcotics Prosecutor’s Office said.

All pleaded not guilty.

Wymbs and Klein posted bail and were released yesterday; the others remain at the Manhattan Detention Center.

The campus paper also reported an internal review of all three frats, and of the Intercultural House, where Coles allegedly sold weed.

“We plan to work closely with student leaders, the fraternity and sorority community (including national organizations), and the ICH to assess the scope of the problem and what reforms may be necessary to address these issues,” Shollenberger said.
