About this event

Join us for a History Happy Hour walk through Dunbar's history at the iconic McCollum Hall, a pivotal entertainment venue on the historic Chitlin’ Circuit since the 1930s, and immerse yourself in the vibrant Buck’s Backyard Mural Project. This tour will showcase a series of murals painted on a concrete barrier behind McCollum Hall and consist of 17 panels, each 7' x 18', and explore the theme of diversity as a positive force rather than division.

This event is a collaborative effort between the Florida Public Archaeology Network (FPAN), the Florida Trust for Historic Preservation, the Fort Myers Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA), the Lee County Black History Society, and Tom Hall, City of Fort Myers Public Art Consultant.

We will meet at Remedies Parlor and proceed to McCollum Hall & Buck’s Backyard Murals. Please wear comfortable walking shoes. The tour will conclude with a reception back at Remedies Parlor. This is a free event!
